Morin saves Cones in OT, 6-5. |
| Week 9
After blowing a 4-0 lead in the 2nd half of the game, Jon Morin saved the Snow Cones bacon by forcing Jim Wilkinson into a penalty, then he scored with just 15 seconds left in OT while on the PP to get the red team the win. Early on everything shot at the Shakes' net was tipped home by Osbahr or Bobrycki. Bobrycki actually moved into the top three in scoring, but after he missed a great open net chance in the 2nd, he wound up on the Cold List anyway. "I was surprised I split the D and faked out Rollie," said Bobrycki. "Next thing I know I got an open net staring at me and I guess I choked." The Shakes started to chip away at the lead when Wilkinson and Iannetti scored 3 minutes apart late in the middle period. "If the Emperor was here we wouldn't be in this hole in the first place," said Wilkinson. A long shot from the point by Peterson in the third was not tipped for a change, but Rollie was expecting a tip and the original shot by Al went in to put Red up 5-2 with 12:11 left. Once again though the Shakes mounted a rally, and this time they would tie it. Howard, Wilkinson, and a rare Cormican goal would knot the game at fives with 3 minutes left. Eventually OT came, and that's when Wilkinson hauled down Morin after Morin used Jimmy as a turnstyle. While on the PP, Bobrycki set up Morin but the pass was so bad that Morin misfired. But being a BBHC superstar, Morin retrieved the puck and snapped it home past a stunned Rollie and an angry Trevor to win the game. "Originally I was angry," said Cormican. "But when you consider what the guys on the Gold team are going through this season, I really can't bitch."
