Frustrated Mobil loses again, 4-2 Shell. |
| Week 9
Mobil went winless in June after they lost 4-2 to Shell on Friday. "Fourth of July isn't until next week, but there sure were alot of fireworks today," noted gentlemen Mike Saia. "I thought I was playing in the NHL for a minute, the way everyone was yelling today," said Lloyd Johnston. "I think even Mike Raimo said a cuss word or two." Shell had to start the game with only 4 skaters, as the rest of the bunch were still zipping each other up in the locker room. Mobil couldn't take advantage of the free powerplay to start the game, and maybe that's why they were so moody.
A nice give and go six minutes in by Tony Maffeo and Ted Miller made it 1-0 Shell. The Terminator John O'Connor swooped out of the corner to take a return pass from Bob Desrosiers to make it 2-0, and the salt was fully in the Mobil wound. Paul Albano notched an unassisted goal before the period ended to atleast keep Mobil in it, on paper. Maffeo would tip a shot past a stunned Mike Vieira to make it 3-1, and that was pretty much that. Lloyd would score early in the third on one of the two Mobil sympathy powerplays to cut the lead to only 3-2. But a tape to tape pass from Albano to Trevor Hanson would set up Trev for the open net goal to seal the game. Actually the game was called with still six seconds to play, but let's not go into the Holiday week on a sour note.
