Goal off faceoff sinks Target, 5-4 BB's.

Week 6

Mike Cormican is seen here taking the puck off the faceoff drop from Rick Armand. Cormican then shot the puck past Mike Vieira, and that was the backbreaking goal in the 5-4 Best Buy win.

"That was the only faceoff I lost all game long, and neither my defense or goalie could pick up the slack for those few moments," noted Armand. "And they say that we don't need to make any trades?"

John Gambale was forced into playing forward with only 9 guys showing up. At first he looked like a Republican walking through downtown Cambridge. He soon adjusted, and was playing forward like every other C player in the league.

"The only difference I found playing forward was that I didn't HAVE to get back and help out in our own zone," noted Gambale. "Otherwise I just played my usual game like I do when I'm on defense."

Armand and Albano selfishly put the Target team up 2-0 after one period, but Target doesn't play well unless they're down by four goals.

"Playing with a lead is not our forte," said Jumbone Teal. "Our defense is just not that strong."

Target had a great chance to go up by a field goal, but while on the man advantage, a long clear out by Ed Coughlin ended up in the Target net. Andy Long explains.

"The key to the game," said a grateful Andy Long. "Was when the red team was up 2-0 and on a
5-3 power play and Eddy iced the puck. Goalie Mike Viera came out and ladeled a pass to a gold player from behind his goal line for a shorthanded goal. Not even I could screw that one up."

Though Paul Maffa scored shortly after on the same PP to put red up by 2 again, the seed had been sewn by the Vieira miscue.

Cormican scored right off a faceoff, and that led to Best Buy scoring 4 of the next 5 goals, including a sweet game winner by Bobrycki, en route to the 5-4 win.

"I'm surprised we hung on at the end," said Al Peterson who had a whopper of a day with a pair of goals. "Billy Osbahr looks a little nervous out there playing with Cormican. He kept getting happy feet and was getting rid of the puck quickly to the first guy he saw, no matter what color jersey they were wearing."

Best Buy is now 5-1 and clearly the best team in the league.

"Al is happy on our team, he is clearly our Manny," said Bobrycki. "Welcome to Allywood."
