Great D and avg. G gets Best Buy a win. |
| Week 2
When your team runs out to a 5-0 lead before the other team has five shots on net, chances are you could have anyone playing net and still get the win. That was the case this week for Rene, who basically had the bye week. But let's back up. Before the game Bill Osbahr took a look at the 10 Target skaters and trembled. "That is one heck of a team over there in red," said Osbahr.
"It was a tough day for us," said Rick Armand. "First off, you can't score if you don't get any shots on net, even on Rene. Second, Jack Gavin was confused at what color we were wearing today. I think he still thinks he's on the gold team. He gave them some sweet passes, especially Cormican." "I think Jack gave me my only pass of the day," said Cormican grinning like the Chesire cat. Target finally got on the board when Jumbone Teal scored a soft goal on Rene late in the 2nd. But nobody plays more aggressive with a five goal lead than Chris Caruso. He has one gear, full throttle. He was barreling up the ice like Bobrycki racing for the Breakfast table, with reckless abandon. That led to a big third period goal. "There was still 10 minutes left," said Caruso. "I hardly would classify that as a Kotex point." Each team added one more down the stretch for the 7-2 final. "We had two lines today," said Gavin. "Bad and Worse." "Which line was I on Jack?" asked Speed Bratt. "You were on the line with the guy that was trying to hurt Andy Long," replied Gavin. "I was on the line with Rick Armand and a guy who thinks he's Rick Armand." Incidentally, Long said he was "okay" after the collision with George Anderson. He even lent John Gambale his stick after John busted his taking a wicked slapshot.
