Bananas keep slipping, 5-2 Fudgies. |
| Week 10
It was the closest game they've seen in a while, but still the gold team came out on the losing end of a 5-2 game. It took all of one shift and one minute for the Splits to be trailing as Rob Chuilli scored on a pass by someone. The lead grew to 3-0 in the 2nd on goals by Mellito, and a sweet one by Ragu in which he batted his own rebound out of the air while shorthanded. Rare goals by Albano and Onello cut the lead to 3-2 and for a brief moment we actually had a game. But in the third it all unraveled for the Splits. A sweet pass up the middle by Saia to set up Tripp for the all alone slap shot to ice the game. Saia with his head up, circling the net with a head of steam and put it right on his stick. Tripp gave him a nice target and Saia made a nice crisp pass right on the tape. Rick Breed then ended the game with 5 seconds left by burying a shot into the open net after taking a bad pass from Tony Maffeo. "It wasn't exactly on my tape, but I still managed to gather it in and pick my corner," said Breed.
